Chevy’s first electric Blazer starts at $ 47K and offers options for FWD, RWD or AWD

Chevy brings the Blazer to the electric car range. The mid-size crossover SUV is the latest of the GM brand’s gas cars to have a fully electric version, joining the Chevy Equinox EV, Silverado EV and GMC Hummer EV.

Chevy does not go easy on the Blazer EV options: buyers can choose between models with front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. In addition, there will be a high-performance Blazer SS model with 557 horsepower. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds using what the company calls a WOW (wide open watt) mode that remembers other high-performance electrical settings such as Tesla’s ludicrous and plaid options, Lucid Motors’ Launch Mode or Unbridled Extend setting on Mustang Mach-E. Other equipment levels include 1LT, 2LT and RS, with 1LT as the most affordable option.

Compared to the Ford Mustang Mach-E vertical 15.5-inch screen, the Blazers’ 17.7-inch infotainment screen is larger and horizontal.

Like Chevy’s other upcoming electric cars, the Blazer is also built on the Ultium platform. It is capable of up to 320 miles of full charge range for the RS trim level and can fast charge up to 190kW, giving the vehicle a range of up to 78 miles in 10 minutes, according to GM.

The interior includes a 17.7-inch infotainment screen along with an 11-inch instrument panel screen, and GM includes the option of the advanced driver assistance system Super Cruise – which is standard on the top model SS. The blazer also has a hands-free starting system that allows you to switch to driving right after you close the door and put your foot on the brake.

The Blazer can follow Ford’s successful launch of the Mustang Mach-E, a similarly sized and priced electric car entry that fills a popular segment of the US market. Both have similar range, charging options and performance range options. GM’s approach expands on top of Ford’s smaller set of fully electric equipment by including a less expensive alternative on the market in the form of the Chevy Bolt EUV. If you want something more advanced, it’s the Cadillac Lyriq and even the Cadillac Celestiq, which help fill a portfolio moving closer to GM’s $ 35 billion goal of electrifying the range by 2040.

Blazer EV 2LT and RS will be available in the summer of 2023, with prices set to start at around $ 47,595 and $ 51,995 before any fees or destination fees. Chevy plans to release the SS by the end of 2023 for $ 65,995, while the cheapest 1LT will be released in the first quarter of 2024 for $ 44,995.
