After some earlier teasing, Rockstar today announced the update for Criminal Enterprises for Grand Theft Auto Online will be released on July 26. This upcoming free update sounds like it will be one of the biggest the game has ever received, with a number of quality of life changes, improvements and business expansions.

Follows rumors and hintsRockstar has finally started sharing details about GTA Onlineits big summer update. But there is bad news for people living in the digital world GTA Online as intense heat waves and skyrocketing gas prices will make life even more miserable. Fortunately, for all you online criminals out there, this offers some new criminal opportunities as well as a chance to help the government take down some other the villains via a new series of in-game missions.

As part of this Criminal Enterprises update, Rockstar is adding a new series of missions that have players merges with the IAA again (GTA’s takes on the CIA) as an off-the-book agent to help take down a “notorious oil-rich dynasty” in Los Santos that profits from the heat and sky-high prices.

But that’s only part of this massive upcoming update. In today’s blog post, you share details about the updateRockstar explained that every business in the game i GTA Online expands, giving players more ways to earn more money. For example, biker bars will now fill up with customers and players can run missions to keep the booze and money flowing. Even better, it sounds like all of these extensions will be free.

While I’ve enjoyed some of the businesses Rockstar has added to the game over the years, it’s nice to see the developers go back and expand on the old content instead of just cramming another business in the mix.

The Criminal Enterprises, coming July 26th to GTA Online

But for longtime players, the most exciting changes and tweaks coming in this next big update are all the little quality-of-life improvements.

Rockstar promises that there will be a faster way to get to snacks, which will make healing during a firefight easier. Also coming: Nerfs to the infamous and annoying Suppresses Mk. 2 armored jet bikeswhich has long ruled the sky GTA Online and caused many players to quit. Another small but massive change is that all business activities, including sales missions, will soon be fully playable in private sessions. This has been requested by fans for years and it’s nice to see it finally happening. Rockstar is also increasing the payouts of old Heist, Run and Resistance modes and will increase how much associates and bodyguards are paid as well.

All and all, this update is exactly that GTA Online need. After years and years of Rockstar cramming more and more into the game, often not going back to tweak or improve things afterward, it’s nice to see an update that focuses mostly on expanding old content while adding features and changes requested by fans.

Update: 22.07.22: Following yesterday’s announcement of The Criminal Enterprises update arrives GTA OnlineRockstar Games has shared more information about some of the quality-of-life changes and tweaks being made to the long-running open-world game.

The entire blog post on Rockstar his side includes a full list of changes. It is a long list, but here are some changes that stood out to me:

  • Players will now be able to buy max ammo for all weapons at once via the interaction menu. Players will also be able to easily access snacks and armor via hotkeys that are active when the weapon wheel is up.
  • Oh, and when you die during a mission, Rockstar will refill the snacks you had before, which will make it easier to retry difficult missions, especially when playing solo.
  • On PC, you will be able to turn off the in-game chat box.
  • Rockstar is finally letting players jog instead of just walking inside the casino and nightclubs.
  • You will now be able to own 10 properties in the game, increasing your total garage space by up to 20 vehicles. I don’t really like to own a lot of stuff, but for collectors out there this is a big deal.
  • To help combat pesky mourners, free roam kills will no longer affect your K/D stat.
  • And if someone attacks you while free-roaming in a weapon-protected vehicle and you fight back, you won’t be charged a destruction fee if you succeed in blasting your attacker.
  • The Race Creator tool in the game is greatly expanded, allowing players to add more checkpoints, props, increase the number of players in certain races and more.

Rockstar says these changes came directly from fan feedback, which I believe. Many of these changes have been long requested by fans for years. While there are still many things that can be changed and improved GTA Onlinethis upcoming update will go a long way to making the game feel more streamlined, modern and fun.

All this and more goes live when The Criminal Enterprises update lands on July 26 on all platforms.
