This is not what a house with “good bones” means.
A couple was shocked after finding bones in their newly purchased home during renovation.
Cassidy Casale and Eton Marritt, from Ontario, Canada, bought their house in March and had plans to renovate it. But in April, when their dreams came true, they discovered something strange.
First there were newspapers from the 1960s, then there were bones.
The couple, both 24, told NeedToKnow.online that their project manager Ethan found several bones under the house while working on the electrical wiring.
The remains of unknown origin were described as “strangely large” and “doubtful”, which came as a shock to the new homeowners.
“Finding the legs was a big shock to us and worried us for a while,” Cassidy said. “Some were very obviously rodent bones, but there was one that was strangely large and questionable – this was swan humus.”

They left the remains where they were discovered, so that the investigation could continue until a zoo archaeologist was able to identify types of bones.
The couple shared their scary story on TikTok, with the clip of the cool discovery that garnered 2.5 million views.

“Wish we had falsified the views,” was the caption, while people in the comments argued about the skeletal remains. Some warned that renovations would be stopped for a while, while others claimed that they could tell that there were no human remains.
Rest assured that the couple posted an update for viewers to confirm the animal origin of the bones.

“To this day, we have no idea how the legs would have gotten down there,” Cassidy continued. “The only way to the crawl space is through the inside hatch door, there are no openings from the outside since the outside is completely solid stone.”
While some people speculated that the house may have been built on top of a swan – dead or alive – it was well preserved 130 years later when the couple accidentally dug it up.
In any case, the renovation should continue in their home at $ 477,713.

“We liked the quaint features of the old house and knew we would be able to work with the charm to make it great,” she said. “While it may not have been our first choice, it has been a great adventure so far.”
While “adventure” is a way of saying it, the couple is ready for the challenge of working on an “extreme” budget of less than $ 77,685. So far, they have spent only a fraction of the estimated cost.

While their big project is still going on, the couple hopes to move into their new home next week with their beloved husky, Lilo.
“Old homes throw a lot of basket balls that you can not plan until you start tearing down walls and really getting deep into it,” Cassidy added. “Eton and I do all the work ourselves while working full time, so we do not move at super speed, but we spend every night and weekend working away.”
